the NINES...
Before anyone gets too excited, this is NOT, I repeat NOT, a new ultrasound pic! :)
ok, now back to my original purpose...
Graham's 9 month bday kind of flew past me, but I've been thinking a lot lately about this time of year in my life last year! I remember us saying at halloween, can you believe next halloween he'll be here to dress up and will even probably be crawling (he was!)? And of the holidays, trying to visualize what it would be like to have him being 10 months old! This Christmas, we might even have a walker on our hands! What a difference a year makes!

Happy To Report...
Several reasons to be thankful!
>After our nap fiasco day, I decided to try something different the next day. I left him alone without going in to battle! The first time resulted in crying. for. a. long. time. And then he layed down and slept! The next naptime, no tears at all! So... you are told to choose your battles, I obviously chose th wrong one! Very thankful that we only had one day of that! whew.
>At church on Sunday, we had a record high of almost 40 attenders. That is huge. I can't explain to you how huge. Wow. We have 2 new couples who seem excited to join us our body, and 2 other new families who visited for the first time on Sunday. We are thrilled to see our little group grow. So exciting to see God moving here in Pittsburgh!
>It was 70 degrees this weekend! I thought the next time I was going to be outside without freezing would be March! I was SO thankful to be wrong! We enjoyed a little outdoor family time on Sunday. We spent some time walking through the campuses of the University of Pitt and Carnegie-Mellon, both of which are very old & beautiful.

The one-armed, upside-down snack break. Could he be any crazier or is it just extreme talent? :)

Twittering My Day Away...
So I thought I would see what it would be like if I were tweeting all day...a look into the day of a SAHM and what REALLY do we do all day? :)
Current progress on to-do list - laundry folded, errands done, & dishes done. it feels like so little progress when written out. :(
5:30 - go pick-up subway, and stop at Whole Foods for another free product, and then on to get Andrew.
6:30 - home, scarf down our $5 footlong! everyone out the door.
7:00 - community group
9:00 - home, graham in bed (such a late night thursdays are for him!). just in time to catch The Office!
9:30 - finish blog post. too tired...pictures & posting will have to wait till tomorrow. :)
Synopsis...
-didn't even get on blogs or fb because I was too busy tweeting!
-I obviously would not do well staying under the 140 character limit. :)
-3 out of 8 on my to-do list...it's worse than I thought it would be!
-a great start to the day, followed by a crazy afternoon, ending with a time of refreshment with other believers. 2 out of 3 positives = a positive!
So... this day wasn't exactly what I was expecting! Isn't that the way of life for a mom? I wouldn't trade it for anything. :)

Our Little Pumpkin
We obviously did not go trick-or-treating, but we did have a wonderful opportunity to go visit with about 5 of our neighbors, who we are getting to know. Several of them are older, and they just LOVE Graham. One of our neighbor ladies showed interest in possibly coming to our church & ladies Bible study. We are thrilled and pray that she will!
We were happy to be able to use Halloween for Jesus. :)
Graham's buddies, Owen & Claire, stopped by for a visit!
Our day ended with free burritoes from Chipotle! I knew you could get one if you dressed up as a burrito, which I was just not willing to go the trouble for. :) But then we found out that as long as you had a piece of tin foil with you, they would give you one. There was a lot of tin foil in that place! I was just thankful for a free dinner & not having to cook. Yeah!!We enjoyed our first family Halloween!

Do you know your pumpkins?
-> Pumpkins are native to North America, but today are grown on every continent
except Antarctica. Note that corn and pecans are also native to North America, but far more difficult to carve into frightening faces. As for Antarctica, it's not certain that anyone has ever really tried to grow pumpkins there, a fact possibly related to the average temperature of minus 58 degrees Fahrenheit.
-> Until 1981 the biggest pumpkin ever recorded was 460 pounds. By 1994 that record was over 1,000 pounds, and the present record is over 1,600 pounds. In that same time period the average weight of an NFL lineman has gone from 277 pounds to 318 pounds. This does not necessarily indicate (but does not rule out) that NFL linemen are eating more pumpkins than they used to.
-> The pumpkin can be boiled, baked, steamed, mashed or roasted, and the seeds are often eaten as snacks. In India it's cooked with butter, sugar and spices. In Thailand small pumpkins are steamed with custard inside and served as a dessert. And as Harry Potter fans are well aware, pumpkin juice is the drink of choice at Hogwarts and is a favorite at their feasts.
-> Canned pumpkin is sometimes recommended by veterinarians as a dietary supplement for dogs and cats with digestive problems. The high fiber content helps to aid proper digestion. For humans, canned pumpkin is often added to pancakes and waffles or made into "pumpkin fluff" and served with apples, pears, pieces of pound cake, gingersnaps, marshmallows, or graham crackers.
-> Pumpkin chucking ('Punkin Chunkin') is a competitive activity in which teams build various mechanical devices designed to throw [catapult] a pumpkin as far as possible. The present record is almost one mile. It seems there is an entire culture growing around this pastime. The World Champion Punkin Chunkin Association holds competitions, awards scholarships and even runs a beauty contest (for people, not pumpkins).
-> Jack Pumpkinhead was a character in several of L. Frank Baum's Oz book series, but unfortunately, never made it into the movie. He was not alone in that respect, however. Other characters in the Oz books that movie-goers may not recognize include: Patchwork Girl, Cap'n Bill, Doctor Dillamond, Lonesome Duck, Betsy Bobbin and Ugu the Shoemaker. So it wasn't all Kansas, witches and flying monkeys with Mr. Baum.
-> The U.S. produces 1.5 billion pounds of pumpkins each year, with most coming from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and California. According to the University of Illinois, 90 percent of the pumpkins grown in the United States are raised within a 90-mile radius of Peoria, Illinois. The largest pumpkin pie ever made was over five feet in diameter and weighed over 350 pounds. It used 80 pounds of cooked pumpkin, 36 pounds of sugar, 12 dozen eggs and took six hours to bake.
