The Full Story

Many of you (girls) have been asking about all the nitty-gritty prego details!

So here's my story...Pregnancy hit me like a brick wall!

I was happily, merrily going about my business of life...

One night I was brushing my teeth and ~BAM~ randomly vomited without warning. I thought "that was very strange". The next day food began to repulse me and since I am a LOVER of food, this was very unusual. Day #3 I began throwing up everything I ate.

Ding, Ding, Ding.

The lightbulb began to come on and out comes the home pregnancy test! POSITIVE!! wow - your world suddenly turns upside down as you realize your life as you know it is about to change!
So I set up an appt. with our family dr. and they not only confirmed the pregnancy, but tell me I'm 5 weeks along. that was a shock, but hey, I was 1/3 of the way through my first tri-mester, so I wasn't complaining.

So for about the next 5 days I could not keep hardly anything down. That was not fun and I thought this was going to be a veeeeerrrrryyyy long tri-mester. But thankfully, mercifully, after about 5 days I started keeping a little food down and was feeling less like I was about to die. :)

So right now, at 8 weeks, I have only thrown up once in the last week and I am mostly feeling pretty well. The worst part is that I cannot stand the sight or smell or thought of food at all! Absolutely nothing appeals to me - even ice cream. And it's even worse when I have to make it! So I am doing my best to choke down the most nutritious food I can. The other day my lunch was a chocolate shake - but you gotta do what you gotta do! I have been able to drink apple juice and eat apple sauce so I am doing that as much as I can and cheese pizza has also worked ok surprisingly! And I'm choking down ice cream for the calcium, of course!

I had read a book on nutrition which included pregnancy nutrition and I was all set to give my baby the best little fetus life it could imagine. well, let me tell you, when pregnancy hit - that all flew out the window. But my doctor says, don't panic, you're not starving your baby, and in a couple of weeks, you'll be okay. She says as long as I am keeping my pre-natals down, the baby is getting all the nutrition it needs.

Last week, while feeling much better physically, the exhaustion hit. I could barely drag my way through work. My house is piling up around me and everything else seems to falling apart! Andrew is in the middle of 3 classes right now and really needs a helping hand himself, so we're a pretty chaotic home right now! He has been very good though, doing everything he can possibly can!

Funniest moment so far...

Andrew standing in front of our bookshelves saying "Now I need to read all our parenting books!"

So I think overall, God has been very gracious and has definitely given me the strength to get through each work day.

Most of all...we are VERY excited and the most daunting task that stands before us is picking out a name for this child! And yes, we ARE going to find out the gender as soon as we can!

I was too sick to get very creative, so this was all Andrew got. But I think he got the message!

Happy 3rd Anniversary to Us!

We were both able to take the day off and spend a very nice, leisurely day which was wonderful.
We started with an appt. to our ob/gyn (if anyone has not heard that I am 7 {updated number}weeks pregnant!)

We then spent some time shopping and then headed to a nice, secluded beach we have found for the afternoon. We ended with dinner at The Melting Pot, which if anyone has not gone and likes fondue, you HAVE to go!

Caribbean Cheese Fondue - oh man - it was the BEST!

Flaming Turtle Chocolate Fondue

And the best blessing of the day - the fondue dinner must have been ok with baby and I kept it all down!
